Ulster GP Report

Practice went well on the WeTrackBikes.com CBR1000cc Honda – I wanted to lap at 123mph but was well over the moon when I did 124.1mph and still getting to grips with the blade I was doing well.  I did 188mph through the speed trap so was happy with the set up for the race, I qualified 28th and managed to finish 19th with a lap time of 124.6mph and was only half a second off 125mph lap.  Sadly Lee Vernon lost his life, it put a dampener on the meeting for me, as he was a great person and friend.

The Club #98 R6 Yamaha was also flying and I hit the speed trap at 172mph from a screaming 600cc.  I managed 17th in that race but red flags went out on the last lap so everything went back a lap and I was demoted to 18th, still a good result and a PB on the 600cc as well, unfortunately the clutch went in the 2nd race.

A big thanks to everyone who came and said Hi and supported me in Ireland, and a big thanks to Neil and Nick for coming with me for the week and helping out.

Roll on Olivers Mount, Scarborough in September,

Scarborough & Aberdare Reports

National Olivers Mount Races:
It was the first ever outing for me on a 1000cc at Olivers Mount since I started racing 18 years ago and what a handful it was, I managed an 11th place in the final and set my fastest ever lap around the tricky track. I also picked up a great 5th and 4th placings on the Yamaha 450cc over the 2 days, but a very sad ending as one of the racers got killed, R.I.P Steve.

National Aberdare Park Races:
It was the first time I’d been on the little 250 Honda since the Ulster GP in August 2011 and what a great bike the 250 is, I managed to win 4 races, 2 were my heats and the 2 big finals. I was also 8th in the Welsh Open race but got mugged off the start by the 600cc machines from 6th on the grid. I also managed four 3rd places on the Yamaha 450cc on the King of the Singles with 2 legs on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.

So all in all a good couple of race results and I’m heading to Ireland next week for the International Ulster GP.
